Rolled-Ribbon LFP Energy Cells are ideal for medium-power high-capacity battery systems that require safety, ruggedness and long life.

The cylindrical, pouch and prismatic cell packages used in the industry today were designed for low-power low-capacity requirements like laptops, tablets, cell phones, digital electronics, etc. Internally, these cell packages use thin metal tabs to connect their electrodes to small cell terminals. All electrical current and heat must pass through these thin metal tabs and small terminals, which have high electrical and thermal resistance, limiting the power performance of the cells. These cell designs do not scale up well. As capacities are increased, resistances increase, exacerbating power and thermal issues.

Rolled-Ribbon technology was specifically developed to address the need for higher-performance higher-power higher-capacity Li-ion cells and batteries. The patented Rolled-Ribbon design significantly reduces electrical and thermal resistance, greatly enhances power performance and provides unparalleled thermal performance. The hard cased disk-shaped cells are “tough-as-nails” and, unlike other cell designs, they enable cell blocks to be constructed by stacking cells on top of each other without any welding, which enables the cells in cell blocks to be replaced and/or repurposed. Like the cells, the cell blocks are "tough-as-nails".
